В соответствии с докладом экспертов, размер теневой экономики Незалежной составляет 44,8 % ВВП, что превышает показатели Гвинеи, Нигера, Сенегала, Того и многих других. Эксперты использовали данные за период с 1991 по 2015 год. Пик теневой экономики — 57 % ВВП — пришелся на 1998 год.
